If you're interested in an estimate, please write to me at driftingearth(at)gmail.com, and include as much of the following about your project as possible:
- Summary of the project
- Number of pages? Electronic format or hard copy?
- Approximate number of words per page
A typical Microsoft Word document, single spaced with 1-inch margins, is approx. 500-550 words; double-spaced would be around 275. - Do you have a specific deadline, or is the timeline flexible?
- What type of edit are you looking for?
Is it in good or rough shape? Are you an experienced or new writer? Has it been edited by someone already? Also see the Copy Editing page for descriptions of the different types of editing. - Any other information that you think is relevant
- Attach a 3-5 page sample from the middle of the work, if available.
This greatly increases the accuracy of the estimate. Also, sampling from the middle is important because the beginning is typically in the best shape and not a good representation of the true amount of editing a project will require.
